Maximum aesthetic integration at AZ Zeno in Knokke, Belgium

PerPetum realized a carport with charging stations and a ground setup on the meadow for AZ Zeno. For the carport, a choice was made for maximum aesthetic integration with the existing hospital in terms of color and shape. The AZ Zeno campus boasts exceptional architectural quality. Inspired by the work of René Magritte, the hospital floats above the landscape like a cloud, Ceci n'est pas un hôpital ("This is not a hospital"). Therefore, conceptually, a floating carport was chosen to match the floating hospital.

This was achieved by setting the outer vertical columns one parking space inward. The side triangular openings on the north and south are covered with a white lacquered finishing plate. On the north-south axis, a white lacquered finishing plate is also mounted on both outer sides, creating a single beautiful floating structure. We chose round vertical columns because the hospital is also supported by round profiles. Daylight on the full-black panels is converted into electricity. Ceci n’est pas un parking ("This is not a parking lot"), it is a floating field of renewable energy, powered by the sun.

Key figures solar carport:

  • 48 rounded white lacquered columns
  • 8 white lacquered rounded rectangular box profiles

Key figures EV Charging Stations:

  • 12 charging stations with 24 charging points
  • Infrastructure for 11 additional charging stations or 22 charging points is provided
  • White housing and front plate

Key figures for PV ground setup:

  • 7600 m²
  • 1540 kWp
  • 3624 full-black solar panels
  • Annual production: 1395 MWh/year
  • Rammed posts with table structure at 90 cm so that sheep can graze underneath
